What a wonderful place !
Peace and tranquillity in beautiful surroundings with such helpful, friendly and attentive staff
We stayed for 10 days and will be back sooner rather than later
There was no aspect of out stay that was anything less than perfect
Even swam with dolphins on a speedboat trip from the adjoining dive school

What was the highlight of Shams Alam Beach Resort

Relaxing resort capable of improvement

Large, safe and green resort, spacious clean rooms with comfortable beds, hot shower, nice views from balcony, good food and varied menu, friendly and helpful English speaking staff, generally quiet atmosphere, fine sandy beach, plenty of marine life, gym on site and professional dive centre nearby.

Negative: Drinking water is only provided in 500ml disposable plastic bottles, creating unnecessary waste throughout your stay. All other drinks are served in reusable cups at the bars, why not water?

At night at the pool bar, guests can find themselves caught between two music sources (pool and bar) playing two different styles of music at the same time.

I had a bad experience getting a haircut and a shave at the beauty salon. The hairdresser started by cutting oily hair and then just rinsed it with cold water while asking me if it was hot enough. The alcoholic aftershave was sprayed directly on my face without even covering my eyes. The shave caused a lot of skin irritation.

The airport transfer seems very expensive and is charged per person, not per trip. Guests who wish to share an airport transfer that has already been arranged and paid for are asked to pay the same amount.

Not a Shams Alam issue but could be solved for a better experience: Gorgonia Beach security staff will ask guests walking along the beach towards the Gorgonia jetty (to snorkel back) to go through the main gate / reception and show their passports first.

What was the highlight of Shams Alam Beach Resort

A true shangri-la for snorkeling enthusiats and divers but also for folks who want to relax

I liked everything about Shams Alam Resort. The food was excellent, with a lot of variety including gluten-free bread, and desserts. The location was great too, fairly close to famous diving spots like Sharm El Luli and Dolphin Reef. The hotel has good facilities, like wellness center with hairdresser, an exceptional organic essential oil shop with lots of other authentic Egyptian art and souvenirs. The hotel receptionists are very helpful with booking trips and taxis. There is also a diving center and they make trips to beautiful reefs such as Hamadi islands and other amazing snorkling /diving spots. I loved absolutely everything. Don't expect a brand new hotel, it is one of the oldest hotels in Marsa Alam but well taken care of. Old but gold!

Negative: Nothing I can think of. I stayed in January and it was pretty calm. Some renovations were going on, so they kept on increasing the comfort for more exigent hotel guests.

Great resort 1,5 hrs south of Marsa Alam airport

The resort is 1-1,5 hrs south of Marsa Alam airport. I picked it for its smaller quieter atmosphere and found them to have excellent food and really friendly service staff. The property is located in a slightly sheltered bay making it possible to enter the water even during windy conditions. There is a dive center as well which runs two boats. It is possible to walk south for 1-2 miles without any other resort. Special thanks goes to Mohamed Saad / Aly at reception as well as the entire restaurant service team.

Good

Location, kitchen is good, staff is friendly

Negative: I cannot be sure but between the airport (?) and our first night, I got stolen of 1 bottle of parfume. But of course the responsible couldnt be found

Very good

It's far away from everything and avery peacefull place. No noisy aquaparks. The view is great and the hotel is on the beach. Diving centre and jetty, too. The staff is very friendly and food is really delicious.

Negative: The rooms are already a bit worn out, but ok value.

Great for an escape

Clean, chill, comfortable. Friendly and professional staff. Beach was great, the reef had a ton of fish

My two pence

Excellent value, nice resort. We enjoyed our stay. Good food, they have ping pong, pool, and windsurfing. Good house reef. Saw a moray eel. They have beach boules. Rooms are comfortable. They had some shows as well - fire show, etc. Reasonable price. I recommend this resort.

Negative: WiFi is 2euros/30 mins, which seems expensive. We were given a downstairs room with no sea view - would have preferred a room with sea view.
